Description
"Alain Bresson's thesis is fascinating. He delves into his research and does not give up until he cuts to the heart of the matter."—André Murcie, Incitatus
Long awaited in the academic world, L'Économie de la Grèce des cités will deeply challenge our vision of the economy of ancient Greece.
The second volume is dedicated to the material and geopolitical aspects of economic exchange—the routes of trade, how and where buying and selling took place, currency and pricing—all issues that were at the center of the ancient Greek culture and economy. Capital, which has been thought to be nonexistent at the time, in fact played a major part in ancient Greece, according to Bresson's theory.
