In a story reminiscent of The Snow Man, Grandfather Twilight, or Stranger in the Woods, The Christmas Surprise tells the tale of a grandfather taking his grandchild on a secret early morning adventure. He has a surprise for him. This is not a surprise of the gift-wrapped kind, but something in nature, an eternal surprise. Rowing down the river a little, in the dark night, they wait. Suddenly out of the woods, a moose appears. This is the surprise, and it makes for the most beautiful Christmas night.
