Description
Christine and her best friend want to have a baby. The only problem is that one of them is gay. She is an energetic forty-something heterosexual Parisian; he is a bereaved young gay man in his thirties. They both feel an intense desire to have a child, and set out on the rocky road of fertility to create one together. The one caveat is that this must happen outside of a sexual relationship. The artifices of insemination punctuate the text in poignant and hilarious scenes. Finally Christine gets pregnant, and we watch as these two unlikely parents-to-be morph into beings of ever greater depth and dimension. This is a heart-warming illustration of what it means to desire a child, irrespective of society’s conventions.
