Description
In this rare insider’s biography, Olivier Widmaier-Picasso, grandson of Pablo Picasso, sheds altogether new light on the man. In an effort to learn more about his famous grandfather, the author set out on a series of exclusive interviews, bringing out never-before-revealed facts about the artist and his life. Addressed here are all of the rumors, legends, and slander this monstre terrible inspired. In a race against old-age and time,Widmaier-Picasso tracked down a number of people, some famous, others not so famous, who knew Picasso well: Adrien Maeght, Anne Baldessari, Pierre Daix, Werner Spies, and Francis Roux are among these intimates, associates, relatives and friends from the world of art and beyond. The result is a remarkably intimate and well-balanced portrait of the man.

We learn more about his relationships with his wives, female companions and children than ever before; about his conceptions of love, sexuality and family; his attitudes towards money, politics, power, celebrity, death and immortality. In addition, delicate family inheritance issues are freshly examined. Another aspect of Picasso’s mystery is unveiled in this fascinating, complex and all-encompassing portrait.

Includes a bookmark featuring the Picasso family tree, as well as pages of unedited, never-before-seen family photos. A portion of the author’s royalties will be given to the Centre national d’art et de culture Georges Pompidou for support of their children’s program, l’Atelier des enfants.
