DEATH BY ANY OTHER NAME is a powerful, dark, compelling, unusual noir novel, and the winner of the 2001 Club Med Prize. (Last year’s winner was BALZAC AND THE LITTLE CHINESE SEAMSTRESS which has been highly successful for Knopf here in the US.)
As you may or may not know, the Club Med Prize has a great many advantages. The French Embassy agrees to pay for between 30 and 70% of the translation cost, and invites the author to the US for a promotional tour upon publication of the American edition. Club Med, for its part, will buy 3500 copies of the book and organize promotional events in bookshops and on-line, working together with the US publicity team.
