Description
Désir d’Afrique is a unique overview of African literature from the classics—Thomas Mofolo with Shaka—through the moderns, with writers such as Véronique Tadjo and Boubacar Boris Diop. Each of the six sections of the book, which range from L’odeur des classiques (The scent of the classics) to a discussion of the Diaspora, and finally L’odeur de l’Autre (The scent of the Other), contains an introductory essay followed by interviews with 24 authors, most of them still living. The dialogues between Mongo-Mboussa and the various writers liven the texts and bring Africa and its writers to our doorstep.
