Description
By analyzing the forms of communication between scientists, the preparation of publications, professional norms and by visiting laboratories, sociologists can describe the complexity of social and cognitive mechanisms at work in the development and diffusion of innovations. La nouvelle sociologie des sciences gathers a series of studies dedicated to research programs focusing on the sociology of science. Differentiating itself from other studies, it offers a critical analysis and an overall reflection on the limitations of these sociological approaches and the representation of sciences to which these approaches apply. After the publication of Alan Sokal and Jean Bricmont’s controversial work, Fashionable Nonsense, which placed members of "the new sociology of science" under the intense scrutiny of the scientific community, Michel Dubois decided to contribute and redefine the modalities of sociological analysis of science.
