Denis Grozdanovitch
Denis Grozdanovitch is a most unusual character: at once a respected scholar and a professional athlete, he won France’s national championships in tennis, squash, and jeu de paume. His Little Treaty Upon Being Carefree (Petit traité de désinvolture), published in 2002 at Éditions José Corti, became a cult hit in France, where it sold more than 50,000 copies. He has been a prolific writer ever since, and he won the 2005 Prix Initiales for Rêveurs et nageurs (José Corti) and the 2006 Prix Grand Chosier for Brefs aperçus sur l’éternel féminin (Robert Laffont).
