Ferenc Karinthy (1921-1992), son of the renowned Frigyes Karinthy, was a novelist, playwright, journalist, and water polo champion. He is the author of this novel, as well as dozen others, including Automne à Budapest published in French by In Fine/V/O in 1992, and L’Âge d’or first published in France in 1997 by Fayard’s Mille et une nuits imprint, and now by Denoel in 2005.
