Distinguished historian and World War I specialist, Jean-Jacques Becker is professor emeritus of modern history at the Université de Paris X-Nanterre. He is president of the Historial of the Great War research center, located at the Château de Péronne, near the Somme. Among his many scholarly works, Becker’s The Great War and the French People was published in English by Berg in 1985. More recently, he has also published Clemenceau l’intraitable (Editions Liana Levi, 1998).
