Jean-Louis Lacascade is a sociologist at the CSU (Cultures et sociétiés urbaines), laboratory of the CNRS-IRESCO (Institut de recherches sur les societés contemporaines). After pursuing theater and film studies, he later turned to the study of urban planning and technologies. Author of a thesis on Marx titled “Marxism as a Way of Life”, he has devoted himself for several years to the socio-genesis of Marx’s work. This book is part of an important series devoted to Marx studies entitled Actuel Marx Confrontation, under the direction of Jacques Bidet, Gérard Duménil and Jacques Texier.
