Benoît Duteurtre
Benoît Duteurtre, winner of the 2001 Prix Medicis for his novel Le voyage en France, is the author of ten others besides, including Sommeil perdu (Grasset, 1985), Les vaches (Calmann-Lévy, 1994), L’amoureux malgré lui (Gallimard 1989), and Tout doit disparaître (Gallimard, 1992). A critic for France Musiques, he hosts the Saturday morning show “Étonnez moi Benoît” and wrote a controversial essay, Requiem pour une avant-garde (Laffont, 1995) against Boulezian ‘atonal’ music and the nouveau roman. He has been "coached" by Philippe Sollers, supported by Milan Kundera, and congratulated by media philosopher Guy Debord. His work, translated into more than twelve languages, has appeared in Marianne, Le Figaro, Paris Match, and Granta.
